Learning Update May 5 2023

 ELAL:

Students identified the story elements of a Fairy Tale. We used the story of The Paper Bag Princess to do the retelling by identifying characters, beginning, middle, and end.

Math:

Students used nonstandard units of measurement ( paper clips, popsicle sticks, blocks, and other objects )to find out the length, width, and deep of different classroom objects.

We continued practicing the additional and subtraction facts up to 20

Spanish:

Students practiced the vocabulary of activities they like to do in spring by speaking in complete and detailed sentences.

For example: En la primavera me gusta montar en bicicleta con mi familia en un dia soleado en el fin de semana. (In spring, I like  to ride my bike with my family on a sunny day during the weekend)

Students finished their mini-book about Spring and shared them with their grade 3 reading buddies.

Science:

Students identified living and non-living things and sorted out pictures.

We discussed different ways of helping the Earth and taking care of plants and animals.

Students will start their research about an animal. They will look at the habitat, diet, adaptations, and fun facts.

Social Studies:

Students were introduced to the past and how life was very different from today.

Students will complete a poster to compare the past and the present in different categories: homes, schools, transportation, shopping, and clothing.

For example:

Then: In the past, homes used candles to light up the rooms.

Now: In the present, homes use electricity to light up the rooms.

Art
